A lot of photographers steer clear of big family shoots, I did so myself a few years back. They are crazy, confusing…kids are everywhere, crying and laughing at the same time and parents are desperately trying to keep it all together for one hour just to get that one great pic for empty frame on the wall.
It’s absolute madness and I just love it!
The Frankel’s and Crouse’s were no exception. I totally miss-timed the lighting on umhlanga beach and we had to hide in the shade the first part of the shoot, needless to say the kids were thrilled when we got to go run on the sand and stretch their legs. We laughed, the kids cried, we sang songs and joked about how crazy wonderful this life is and what kids actually do to our sanity. The images are wild, raw and free…and in my opinion, exactly how a family shoot should be.
No family is perfect – we all have our little quirks that make our family, ours. I love it and I loved documenting these amazing souls! It’s in amongst the madness that we get to see the magic.
enjoy the pics!
